WDM TALKS Chicago: Learning Styles And Their Impact On Workplace Design
July 25, 2017 @ 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM$25 – $65
How to design your workplace to support all learning and work styles
According to the U.S. Department of Education, one in five Americans has some form of learning disability. And while it’s most often diagnosed in childhood, it’s not outgrown in adulthood — which means there are a lot of learning differences in the workplace. During this TALK, we’ll probe leading experts — including Arnold Levin, a principal at SmithGroupJJR, Kate North, Managing Director of Workplace and Strategy at Colliers International, Zoe Levin, Student at Columbia College, Dr. Miriam Pike, Head of School at Wolcott High School which offers an exemplary high school program for students with learning differences, tailored to their strengths and aspirations, about the relationship between learning differences and work styles, and how we can use that knowledge to create innovative design solutions to support all employees in their individual approaches to getting work done.
During this TALK, we will:
– Examine the relationship between learning styles and work styles
– Discuss how to create environments that better support a variety of different work styles
– Encourage the design profession to begin a discourse with clients to determine how learning differences impact their organization
– Identify tools that employees can use to recognize their own work styles and, with that knowledge, seek out the best environments within a space to support their individual needs
3:00 PM Panel discussion begins followed by Q&A
