2020 Submission Snapshot

The WDM Staff at midnight on deadline day, July 9, 2020.

In our inaugural call for innovative ideas in seven key work environments, [workspaces, workstations, work-from-home, building amenities, collaboration spaces, coworking, and new change management process] we were humbly overwhelmed with the response and the calibre of the submissions. Whether you lent your neurons to a submission or just want to follow the winning ideas, we thought we would share some early indicators and learnings.

Close to 700 people submitted.

Submissions came from around the globe including: Canada, Australia, Germany, India, Singapore, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, United States and more.

Special thanks for the support of the following sponsored teams:

With an eye to the future, multiple submissions came from students at some of the leading programs including:

Iowa State University • Penn State University • Indiana University • Savannah College of Art and Design • Pratt Institute • Temple University • University of Michigan • UC Berkeley • Purdue University • Nella Schools • College of DuPage • Appalachian State University • University of Tampere, and more!

Perhaps inspired by seeing their parents working from home these past few months, our youngest submission came from two 11-year-olds!

And the clear themes on the minds of these innovative submitters:

Space Utilization • Reconfiguration • Health, Sanitation & Safety

That’s all we can share right now. Our esteemed jurors are busy making their final recommendations on a new platform built for us by our friends at SPACETRICS. Stay tuned for the winner announcements in August. Thanks, Everyone!
