Brad Wilkins

Brad Wilkins

Brad Wilkins, Associate Principal, Austin, Perkins&Will Raised in the rugged American Mountain West, Brad grew up in the outdoors. His love for hiking has taken him all over the world. The Milford Trek in New Zealand, the Shilthorn in Switzerland, and the Great Wall of China are among his favorites. But his “home backyard” of national parks from Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon with their extreme beauty has been highly influential for Brad as a designer. He is passionate about creating architecture that is local and climate appropriate. “You can’t compete with the sky and the mountains. You have to find a balance between what we build and our environment.” The last 25 years have seen Brad live in a half dozen cities in Europe and another half dozen in Asia. Living, working, and playing in such diverse locales has been a core foundation of Brad’s portfolio of more than 100 projects in over 20 countries. The contextual sensitivities gained by living in diverse places have refined his approach to design; an approach that places value on culture, context, and climate.
