SAP’s Istanbul Headquarters by Mimaristudio was designed to enable employees to be physically and mentally healthy, happy and productive.

As a leader in enterprise application software, SAP Istanbul wanted to provide more interactive, fun, and colorful working space for their employees. SAP Turkey’s new headquarters designed by Mimaristudio has over 1,800 m2 (net) and features a design approach that has changed the physical workspace as well as work culture and habits. The design team at Mimaristudio worked together on the project’s design concept and surveys along with SAP‘s Global Real Estate and Facilities Management Team.

The space is open plan and based on the activity based working approach.

Break-out areas, hot desks, relaxation rooms, phone booths, design thinking rooms, informal working areas.

No, but the design group followed WELL criteria during the design process.

What is the projects location and proximity to public transportation and/or other amenities?

Istanbul, Emaar Office Tower, next to the public transportation and Emaar Shopping Mall.

Was the C-suite involved in the project planning and design process? If so, how?

Mimaristudio created the project’s interior design concept, design, and studies, with the help of SAP’s Global Real Estate and Facilities Management Team. The C-suite also participated in critical design meetings.

A pre-planning survey was conducted by SAP’s Global Real Estate and Facilities Management Team.

Please describe any program requirements that were unique or required any special research or design requirements.

SAP Turkey’s New Head Office followed an approach that has changed the physical workspace as well as work culture and habits. The project has created a working environment and living space that combines SAP’s innovative, “human-centric” face with its global design criteria.

Was there any emphasis or requirements on programming for health and wellbeing initiatives for employees?

Environmental friendliness and sustainability are important components of the SAP Turkey’s new Istanbul Office. Green, natural materials, and bold colors were included in the design according to the biophilic design criteria.

A workspace has been created that enables employees, who spend more time indoor environment, to be physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy and happy, as well as highly productive. An interactive environment was created to address corporate well-being criteria—something that the world is hearing more and more about as of recent—into consideration. Therefore, the aim was to have employees work under maximum natural light, perpetually clean air, and optimal thermal and acoustic comfort.

While SAP Turkey’s new office reflects the company’s global profile as well as its innovative face in the information technology sector, it has been designed to be used not only as a workspace, but also as living space as well.

Many devices and products used according to SAP’s innovative face in the information technology sector and being the market leader in enterprise application software.

How did the company communicate the changes and moves?

Employees followed in-house communication from SAP’s Global Real Estate and Facilities Management Team.
