Interview with Ryan Simonetti: How Has The Pandemic Affected Coworking?

Bob Fox chats with competition juror, and CEO and Co-Founder of Convene, Ryan Simonetti, about how COVID-19 is affecting the coworking industry.

While the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have been hard on everyone, Ryan has seen the positive side in that he is able to spend more time with his family and feels that he is forming stronger connections with colleagues as professional and personal personalities combine while we work from home.

From a business perspective, Ryan believes that Convene is uniquely positioned in the pandemic because they have recognized hybrid growth: the HQ experience, the third space experience, and now the home work experience. They have labeled their post-COVID strategy Convene 2.0, which aims to create a consistent experience across their client space and the growing at home work. By connecting a physical experience with a digital one, Convene’s digital transformation has accelerated by a decade in the last 90 days which will allow them to better connect with their customers.

Convene has always provided premium services, and now premium and safety have become synonymous. For returning to the workplace, they have created new COVID-19 standards to keep their customers safe and healthy. Ryan is now looking at long term changes from an experience and design perspective to create spaces that are not only safe, but also wellness-focused and driven.
